Time

"Those who think they have not time for bodily exercise will sooner or later have to find time for illness." ~Edward Stanley

I found this quote today in my usual search of something to talk about and thought it was brilliant. I've said something to the same tone many times before. This quote goes far behind the factor of time and scheduling and broadly can reflect monetary, fear, and many other reasons for not exercising or seeking out assistance to lead a healthier life. First off today is awesome day to start exercising I mean really its a TUESDAY! What could make today a better day to start exercising? NOTHING. If you don't find the time today or the motivation today then when are you going to find it?

For those that say exercise takes up so much time in their day or it costs too much for a gym membership, the funny clothes, a personal trainer, healthy food, or any of the other excuses people make for not exercising here's the deal. It may be cheaper today but somewhere down the line (barring you getting hit by a truck or something along those lines) it will cost you so much more. Being healthy now will help you be more productive at work, keep you from getting sick as much (and we all hate getting sick, not sick days but getting sick). It can keep your health insurance costs down and we all know how much that's on everyone's mind now and how expensive it is. Getting healthier can keep you in your clothes longer. How many of you complain that exercise takes up too much time/money but spend a paycheck or two and a lot of time and stress at the clothing store picking up a pair of pants the next size up? Doesn't make a lot of sense does it? On that note I'll end my thoughts for today which if I can remind you is the BEST day to start exercising and making a change in your life.

Keep on

Perseverance

"In the confrontation between the stream and the rock, the stream always wins- not through strength but by perseverance."
H. Jackson Brown

Short post and thought today. Today may be tough but do what you have to. Tomorrow is another day with new challenges and more chances to make excuses. Don't allow it, make your change today and adapt to what life throws at you.

Thoughts on Change

Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves; they therefore remain bound.
-James Allen

First off a Happy Holiday to all as I get ready to sign off for the weekend. I hope that each and every one of you enjoy the holiday season and get to spend time with your family and friends. There is no greater gift. My thoughts today waver on changes in our lives. All of us (or most of us) see something in ourselves that we would like to change. With the new year we make it our goal of the moment to change that quality or characteristic of our life, body, mind, etc.. However, we rarely make the calculated moves to achieve that goal or change that characteristic within ourselves. If we really would like to change our circumstances then why are we not willing to step out of our comfort zone and face a bit of uncertainty and discomfort. This in all reality is what is stopping the vast majority of us from getting that better job, feeling better about ourselves, asking out our crush or conquering any other of life's various challenges.

So today (not New Year's Eve) make a plan. Make a plan for change and if you're not sure how to achieve your goal put that into your plan. Plan to ask for help in making the short-term goals and steps to reaching your ultimate goal. Focus on making yourself accountable because you'll be much more prone to do something out of your comfort box if someone else is going to be there waiting or is ready to call you out if you happen to be slacking. Again, make the plan today not tomorrow... If you wait until tomorrow, tomorrow will become the next day, next week, next month, next year. Don't wait.

Change starts now.
